So its pretty cold here and as such I've had some trouble getting the old girl to start, predictably when I need to be somewhere important. Like work. Anyway, someone gave me some sage advice that I should try a rolling start. "Great!" I said, seeing as I live on a hill. Only problem is that the car is facing uphill and I need it do do a 180. I asked politely but she refused, so I tried to push it up the hill as to turn it around. Turns out a late 70's Alfa Spider is quite a heavy girl. Turns out my battery is 5 years old and is not very good in the cold. (Something about cold weather amperage or voltage or something according to my mechanic roommate). So, I think all I need is a new, more potent battery and I'll be golden. Knock on wood.

You've got a Spider? Sweet :) Any pictures?
Have you got a mains jump starter? We've got this beastly old one with a 'boost' button. Very good for getting recalcitrant old cars started.

I'm not sure actually. Our one's an older and beefier version of this .
To be honest, any one would do, but ideally you want one with a system for shutting off the power when it reaches a certain amount of charge. That mechanism on ours is broken so you can't leave it on trickle or it'll cook the battery.
